Assembly Types

Non-Furniture Assembly 

Non-furniture assembly is the service a client can select to assemble small products that don’t require power tools. I.e. picture frames, small puzzle, etc. Non-furniture assembly is reserved for products and props that can be assembled within 30 minutes.

Furniture Assembly

Furniture assembly is the services clients can select to assemble products or props that do require power tools. I.e. chairs, beds, dressers, shelves, etc. Furniture assembly is reserved for products or props that can be assembled within a 1 hour.

Payment

All stylists will be paid a $50 per hour for the full amount of hours scheduled and worked to provide assembly and disassembly services. Please add your assembly services to your invoice.

Follow our invoice and payment process. If you also provide styling on a shoot please separate the assembly service from your styling services. Select assembly for category, type number of hours worked for quantity, and type $50 for price. See example below.

Shoot Arrival

Non-furniture Assembly: All Stylist MUST arrive 30 minutes before the shoot start time for perp and assembly.

Furniture Assembly: All Stylist MUST arrive 1 hour before the shoot start time for perp and assembly.

Our scheduler will indicate to arrive early within assignment notes.

Preparation

  1. check your assignment notes and crew notes for the following details
    1. Product being assembled
    2. Instructions for assembly 
    3. Tools needed for assembly 
    4. Product storage location 
    5. Post shoot preference (store, ship back, discard)
    6. Stylist requirement: (whether you will be needed for a)both assembly + disassembly or b) assembly only)
  2. ask the photographer on your shoot to retrieve the product + tools and materials for assembly
    1. if your photographer is not available ask the Customer Experience Manager or Creative Lead on duty to retrieve the items.
  3. head towards the bay where your shoot is taking place

Assembly

  1. review the assembly instructions
  2. gather your tools and ask your photographer for any missing tools
  3. proceed to assemble the product with the provided instructions
    1. up to 30 minutes for non-furniture products
    2. up to 1 hour for furniture products
  4. if the product will take longer than the allocated time let your photographer know ASAP
  5. once the product is assembled inform your photographer and prepare to begin styling on the shoot

Shoot Time

After the product is assembled you will proceed to provide styling services on the shoot. Once the shoot wraps proceed to disassemble the product as needed.

Disassembly

  1. check assignment notes or crew notes to determine if the product will need disassembling
    1. most non-furniture products will not need disassembling
    2. all furniture products will need disassembling (unless there are back to back shoots scheduled)
  2. if disassembly is required, proceed to gather your tools and materials
  3. proceed to disassemble the product with the provided instructions in the reverse order
    1. up to 30 minutes for non-furniture products
    2. up to 1 hour for furniture products
  4. place the disassembled pieces back into the box or container it came from
  5. once the item is back in the box inform your photographer so they can store, discard, or ship the product
  6. once your photographer has removed the product and tools you are free to move on to your next shoot or leave the studio
